Key Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled tradespeople (e.g., carpenters, electricians, plumbers) with various tasks as directed, ensuring efficient workflow.
  • Perform diligent site preparation and thorough cleanup duties, including clearing debris, organizing tools, and maintaining a tidy and safe work area.
  • Safely load, unload, and transport construction materials and equipment around the job site, following all safety protocols.
  • Operate hand and power tools under supervision, adhering strictly to manufacturer guidelines and company safety procedures.
  • Help with the erection and dismantling of temporary structures, such as scaffolding or barriers, with precision and care.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures rigorously to ensure a secure and accident-free working environment for everyone.
  • Communicate effectively and proactively with team members and supervisors regarding project progress, potential issues, and required support.
  • Support the overall efficiency of the construction site by performing a range of general labour tasks, adapting to changing needs.
  • Maintain and clean tools and equipment regularly to ensure longevity, proper function, and readiness for future tasks.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform physical labour, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding and adherence to construction site safety practices.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively as an integral part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Commitment to scheduled shifts and flexibility to adapt to project timelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a construction, manual labour, or similar physically demanding role (even minor experience is beneficial).
  • Valid G-class driver's license and access to reliable transportation to various job sites.
  • Relevant construction safety certifications (e.g., Working at Heights, WHMIS).
  • Basic knowledge of common construction tools, materials, and equipment.
