Job Description

Mandera Primary School is seeking dedicated and empathetic Part-Time Home Tutors to provide personalized academic support to our students within the comfort of their homes across Mandera County. This vital role involves working one-on-one or with small groups of primary school-aged children, focusing on core subjects such as Mathematics, English, Kiswahili, and Science. As a Home Tutor, you will design and deliver engaging lessons tailored to each student’s unique learning style and academic needs, helping them to grasp challenging concepts, improve their grades, and build confidence. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized or small-group tutoring to primary school students in core subjects (Mathematics, English, Kiswahili, Science).
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to students' specific academic needs and learning styles.
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Identify learning gaps and develop strategies to help students overcome academic challenges.
  • Reinforce concepts taught in the classroom and assist with homework assignments and exam preparation.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student performance and progress.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and encouraging learning environment.
  • Adhere to Mandera Primary School's educational standards and policies.

Required Skills

  • Excellent command of core primary school subjects (Mathematics, English, Kiswahili, Science).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate and inspire young learners.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A diploma or degree in Education, or related field.
  • Previous experience (at least 1 year) in tutoring, teaching, or mentoring children.
  • Familiarity with the Kenyan Primary School curriculum (CBC).
  • Residency within Mandera County or proven ability to commute reliably.
  • First Aid/CPR certification (desirable but not mandatory).
