Job Description
Master Maths George is thrilled to invite applications for a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-Time After School Tutor to join our passionate and growing team. Your primary responsibility will involve working directly with students, both in focused small groups and through personalised one-on-one sessions. In these interactions, you will provide tailored support that seamlessly complements our interactive, computer-based learning system. We are specifically seeking someone who can consistently create a positive, encouraging, and intellectually stimulating learning atmosphere where students feel completely comfortable asking questions, exploring new ideas, learning from their mistakes, and proudly celebrating their academic progress. Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring to students from Grade 4 to Grade 12 in various mathematics topics, aligning with the CAPS curriculum.
 - Guide students through the Master Maths computer-based learning program, ensuring comprehensive understanding of each module.
 - Clarify complex mathematical concepts and explain solutions in an accessible, patient, and engaging manner.
 - Monitor student progress diligently, identify areas of difficulty, and adapt teaching methods to cater to individual learning styles and needs.
 - Foster a positive, encouraging, and intellectually stimulating learning environment where students feel empowered to learn.
 - Assist students with homework, test preparation, and comprehensive exam revision strategies.
 - Communicate effectively and regularly with centre management regarding student performance, progress, and any specific learning needs.
 - Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, progress, and completed work.
 - Adhere strictly to Master Maths teaching methodologies, operational procedures, and centre policies to ensure consistency and quality.
 
Required Skills
- Excellent command of mathematics up to Grade 12 level, including Algebra, Geometry, Functions, Calculus, Statistics, and Probability.
 - Proven ability to explain complex concepts clearly, patiently, and in an engaging manner.
 - Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially when interacting with young people, parents, and colleagues.
 - Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a consistently positive and encouraging attitude.
 - Highly reliable, punctual, and exceptionally organised with strong time management abilities.
 - Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a dedicated team.
 - Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is essential for effective communication.
 
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or possess a degree/diploma in Mathematics, Education, Engineering, Actuarial Science, or a related quantitative field.
 - Previous tutoring or teaching experience, particularly with school-aged children (Grades 4-12).
 - Familiarity with the South African National Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) curriculum.
 - Ability to tutor in Afrikaans is a significant advantage.
 - Basic First Aid certification.
