We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Barista to join a dynamic and bustling café environment in Palma, Quatre Bornes. Your role will involve mastering the art of espresso, from precise grinding and dosing to expert tamping and extraction. You’ll be skilled in milk texturing for a variety of latte art designs, and confident in preparing a wide range of hot and cold coffee drinks, teas, and other specialty beverages. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages (e.g., espressos, cappuccinos, lattes) and non-coffee drinks according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other brewing equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper functioning.
- Provide exceptional customer service, taking orders accurately, engaging with patrons, and fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
- Handle cash and card transactions efficiently and accurately.
- Monitor and manage coffee bean and supply inventory, reporting needs to management.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar, seating areas, and restrooms.
- Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures of the café.
- Educate customers on different coffee beans, roasts, and brewing methods.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during peak hours.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Barista, ideally 1 year or more.
- In-depth knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and equipment.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for quality.
- Basic math skills and experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 15 kg.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal barista training or certification.
- Experience with latte art techniques.
- Fluency in French and/or Creole in addition to English.
- Knowledge of various coffee origins and flavor profiles.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
