Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated full-time Pathologist to join a dynamic medical team in the heart of Downtown, Havre. This is an exceptional opportunity for a Board-Certified Anatomic and Clinical Pathologist (AP/CP) to contribute significantly to patient care through precise diagnostic services. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in our diagnostic laboratory, performing a comprehensive range of pathology services essential for accurate disease diagnosis and treatment planning.

In this role, you will be responsible for the gross and microscopic examination of surgical pathology specimens, ensuring meticulous attention to detail and adherence to the highest standards of quality. You will also perform clinical autopsies as required, providing critical insights into disease processes and contributing to medical education. Collaboration is key; you will work closely with clinicians, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals, offering expert consultation on complex cases and participating in multidisciplinary conferences to optimize patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate and timely gross and microscopic examination of surgical and biopsy specimens.
  • Provide diagnostic interpretation and sign-out of a wide array of pathology cases, including surgical pathology, cytology, and frozen sections.
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical autopsies to determine cause of death and assist with forensic cases when applicable.
  • Consult with clinicians and surgeons regarding diagnostic findings, treatment options, and patient management.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and other clinical conferences.
  • Oversee and ensure the quality control and assurance programs within the pathology laboratory.
  • Utilize and maintain proficiency with laboratory information systems (LIS) for specimen tracking, reporting, and data management.
  • Contribute to the ongoing education and training of residents, fellows, and laboratory staff.
  • Stay current with advances in pathology practice, diagnostic techniques, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain an active Montana medical license and all necessary certifications.

Required Skills

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP) by the American Board of Pathology.
  • Current, unrestricted Montana medical license or eligibility for licensure.
  • Proven proficiency in grossing, microscopic interpretation, and diagnostic reporting across a broad range of specimens.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective consultation and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced medical environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and quality healthcare.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fellowship training in a subspecialty such as Surgical Pathology, Hematopathology, or Gastrointestinal Pathology.
  • Experience with advanced diagnostic techniques, including immunohistochemistry and molecular pathology.
  • Familiarity with digital pathology systems and image analysis software.
  • Prior experience practicing in a community hospital or rural healthcare setting.
  • Experience in medical leadership, teaching, or quality improvement initiatives.
