Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular, thorough foot and/or vehicle patrols of assigned areas, properties, and premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion.
- Monitor surveillance equipment, inspect buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and calls for assistance, assessing situations and taking appropriate action.
- Enforce security policies, procedures, and regulations, ensuring compliance by all personnel and visitors.
- Prepare detailed and accurate reports on observations, incidents, and activities, including daily logs and incident reports.
- Communicate effectively with clients, visitors, and fellow team members, providing clear and concise information.
- Identify and report potential security risks, hazards, or maintenance issues to appropriate management.
- Assist in emergency situations such as fire, medical emergencies, or natural disasters, following established protocols.
- Control access to restricted areas, verifying credentials and maintaining visitor logs.
- Provide a visible deterrent to crime, maintaining a professional and authoritative presence.
- Perform basic first aid or call for medical assistance as required.
Required Skills
- Minimum 18 months of proven experience as a security guard or patrol officer.
- Valid PSRA (Private Security Regulatory Authority) license or equivalent security certification in Kenya.
- Excellent observational and report writing skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Physical fitness and ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods, and lift up to 25 kg.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and effective under pressure.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency response procedures.
- A clean criminal record and impeccable references.
- Valid Kenyan driving license with a clean driving record (for mobile patrol roles).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in corporate, residential, or industrial security environments.
- Certification in advanced security training or specialized security courses.
- Proficiency in Swahili.
- Experience with CCTV monitoring and alarm systems.
- Knowledge of local security regulations and protocols in Nairobi.
