Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and experienced Payroll Administrator to join our dynamic team in Croydon, London. This pivotal full-time, on-site role requires a highly organised individual with a keen eye for detail and a comprehensive understanding of payroll processes and legislation within the UK. As a Payroll Administrator, you will be instrumental in ensuring the timely and accurate payment of our diverse workforce, adhering strictly to company policies and statutory requirements. You will manage end-to-end payroll cycles, process new starters and leavers, handle statutory deductions, and address employee payroll queries with professionalism and discretion.

Our ideal candidate will possess a solid background in payroll administration, demonstrating proficiency with various payroll software and HRIS systems. You will be responsible for maintaining precise payroll records, preparing detailed reports, and contributing to year-end procedures, including P60s and P11Ds. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end processing of weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payrolls for a diverse workforce.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payment of salaries, bonuses, and expenses in compliance with UK legislation.
  • Process new hires, leavers, salary changes, and other payroll adjustments.
  • Calculate and process statutory deductions including PAYE, National Insurance, SSP, SMP, SPP, and student loans.
  • Administer pension schemes, ensuring accurate contributions and compliance with auto-enrolment regulations.
  • Reconcile payroll data, resolve discrepancies, and prepare detailed payroll reports for management and finance.
  • Respond to and resolve employee payroll queries promptly and professionally.
  • Assist with year-end payroll procedures, including P60s, P11Ds, and HMRC submissions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation, tax codes, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure seamless information flow and process efficiency.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of payroll processes and systems.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Payroll Administrator in a fast-paced environment (minimum 3 years).
  • In-depth knowledge of UK payroll legislation, tax regulations, and statutory requirements (PAYE, NI, SSP, SMP).
  • Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., Sage Payroll, Xero Payroll, Iris) and HRIS systems.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective employee interaction and reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (intermediate to advanced).

Preferred Qualifications

  • CIPP qualification or working towards one.
  • Experience with a large volume payroll.
  • Familiarity with T&A (Time and Attendance) systems.
  • Experience with process improvement initiatives within payroll.
