Your primary mission will be to maintain impeccable payroll records, administer employee benefits, and facilitate all payroll-related financial transactions. You will be a key point of contact for employee inquiries regarding compensation, deductions, and benefits, providing clear and concise information. You will manage the full payroll cycle, from inputting new hire data and changes to processing bi-weekly payroll, issuing Records of Employment, and preparing for year-end activities such as T4s.

Key Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees accurately and on schedule, including salaries, wages, benefits, and deductions.
- Ensure strict compliance with Canadian federal and provincial payroll legislation (e.g., Employment Standards Act, Income Tax Act, CPP, EI).
- Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, and terminations, liaising with benefit providers.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare relevant journal entries for the finance department.
- Prepare and submit payroll remittances to government agencies and third-party vendors (e.g., WCB, extended health providers).
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee payroll records, ensuring data integrity and privacy.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, benefits, and deductions in a professional and timely manner.
- Generate and distribute various payroll reports for management and auditing purposes.
- Assist with year-end processes, including T4 and T4A preparation and reconciliation.
- Identify and recommend improvements to existing payroll processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in payroll administration.
- Strong proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Ceridian, UKG Pro).
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and best practices.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data analysis).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Payroll Professional (PCP) designation from the National Payroll Institute (NPI).
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Experience with an HRIS/ERP system integration.
- Familiarity with general accounting principles.
