Key Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for a diverse group of employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain up-to-date and confidential payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and changes in employee data.
  • Prepare and reconcile various payroll reports, including general ledger entries, benefits, and statutory deductions.
  • Assist with the preparation and distribution of year-end tax forms (T4s) and other related documentation.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and benefits in a professional and timely manner.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all Canadian federal and provincial payroll legislation and company policies.
  • Support HR and Finance departments with ad-hoc reporting and special projects as required.

Required Skills

  • 1-2 years of proven experience in a payroll processing role.
  • Solid understanding of Canadian payroll legislation and employment standards.
  • Proficiency with major payroll software systems (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian Dayforce).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy with numerical data.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to meet strict deadlines.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification from the National Payroll Institute (formerly CPA).
  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Experience with general ledger reconciliation and journal entries related to payroll.
  • Familiarity with HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) platforms.
