Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior technicians in conducting thorough pest inspections of residential and commercial properties.
  • Apply pest control treatments safely and effectively, following established protocols and product labels.
  • Prepare and mix chemicals and solutions according to precise instructions and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain and clean pest control equipment, tools, and company vehicles regularly.
  • Document findings, services rendered, and materials used accurately for each job.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing clear explanations of services and preventive advice.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety procedures, as well as local environmental and health regulations.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Identify common pests and understand their biology and habits to inform treatment strategies.
  • Handle customer inquiries and concerns professionally, escalating when necessary.

Required Skills

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills (read, write, and perform simple calculations).
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Physical fitness and ability to lift up to 25 kg, climb, crawl, and work in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and observation skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Valid Mozambican driver's license (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Basic problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Proficiency in spoken Portuguese; local language proficiency (e.g., Makhuwa or Kimwani) is a strong asset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a field-based service role or manual labor.
  • Familiarity with the Macomia area and surrounding communities.
  • Knowledge of basic pest types common in Mozambique.
  • Completion of a high school education or vocational training.
  • Demonstrated interest in environmental health or public safety.
