Key Responsibilities
- Perform full-service grooming including bathing, drying, brushing, de-shedding, dematting, nail trims, ear cleaning, and styling for a variety of dog and cat breeds.
- Consult with pet owners to understand their grooming preferences, provide professional recommendations, and manage client expectations.
- Assess pets for skin conditions, lumps, or other health concerns and report findings to owners and management.
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized grooming station, tools, and equipment daily, adhering to strict hygiene standards.
- Manage appointment scheduling, process payments, and maintain accurate client and pet grooming records.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all pets under care, practicing gentle, compassionate handling techniques to minimize stress.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures regarding animal care, workplace safety, and customer service.
- Promote additional services and high-quality pet products suitable for individual pets' needs and coat types.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 18 months of proven professional pet grooming experience in a salon or similar setting.
- Proficiency in handling and grooming a variety of dog and cat breeds and temperaments.
- Expertise in various grooming styles and techniques, including breed-specific cuts, hand stripping, and creative grooming.
- Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, behaviour, common health concerns, and emergency protocols.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills to build rapport with clients.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a dedicated team.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift pets of various sizes (up to 50 lbs), and perform repetitive tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional grooming certification from a recognized institution (e.g., NDGAA, ISCC).
- First Aid and CPR certification for pets.
- Experience with difficult, anxious, or special-needs animals.
- A professional portfolio demonstrating previous grooming work.
