Key Responsibilities
- Assist professional groomers with all aspects of the grooming process, including bathing, drying, brushing, de-shedding, and dematting.
- Perform basic grooming tasks such as nail trims, ear cleaning, and paw pad shaving under supervision.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of all animals throughout their grooming experience, monitoring their behavior and well-being.
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized grooming salon, including equipment, work areas, and cages.
- Prepare pets for grooming by getting them situated, reassuring them, and applying initial treatments as directed.
- Handle various breeds and temperaments of dogs and cats with patience, kindness, and confidence.
- Communicate effectively with groomers and front desk staff regarding pet status, special requests, or concerns.
- Assist with scheduling appointments and client check-in/check-out when necessary.
- Adhere strictly to all salon policies, safety procedures, and animal welfare guidelines.
Required Skills
- Demonstrable love and compassion for animals
- Ability to handle dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments safely and securely
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift pets (up to 50 lbs), and perform repetitive tasks
- Basic understanding of animal behavior and safe handling techniques
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (6 months+) working with animals in a professional setting (e.g., pet store, kennel, vet clinic)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- First Aid and CPR certification for pets
