Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor advanced Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and SCADA interfaces to manage process variables and ensure optimal plant performance.
- Perform routine field checks, inspections, and preventative maintenance activities on equipment to identify potential issues and ensure operational readiness.
- Respond promptly and effectively to process alarms, deviations, and emergency situations, implementing established troubleshooting protocols and corrective actions.
- Ensure strict adherence to all company safety regulations, environmental policies, and quality control procedures (e.g., HAZOP, LOTO).
- Collect, record, and analyze operational data, making recommendations for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and energy conservation.
- Collaborate effectively with engineering, maintenance, and laboratory teams to resolve operational challenges and support plant reliability initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and detailed operational logs, shift reports, and documentation, ensuring clear communication of plant status.
- Conduct quality control checks on intermediate and final products to ensure specifications are met.
- Actively participate in safety meetings, training programs, and emergency response drills to enhance preparedness and operational knowledge.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience as a plant operator in a petrochemical, chemical, or related heavy process industry.
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience with process control systems (DCS/SCADA).
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities under pressure.
- Thorough knowledge of industrial safety protocols (e.g., LOTO, confined space entry) and environmental regulations.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), process flow diagrams, and operational manuals.
- Physical stamina and ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in various plant conditions.
- Proficiency in both German and English, written and spoken, for clear communication and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or a technical degree (e.g., Chemieanlagenfahrer, Industriemeister, Chemical Engineering, Process Technology).
- Specific experience with petrochemical processes such as distillation, cracking, polymerization, or hydrogenation.
- Certification in industrial safety, hazardous materials handling, or first aid.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with SAP or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems for maintenance and inventory management.
