Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and motivated Petroleum Engineer to join our client’s dynamic team in Downtown Edmonton. This full-time role offers a challenging opportunity to contribute significantly to various upstream oil and gas projects. As a Petroleum Engineer, you will be instrumental in the planning, design, and execution of drilling, completion, and production operations, ensuring optimal recovery rates and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize drilling, completion, and workover programs to maximize recovery and minimize operational costs.
- Perform reservoir simulations and decline curve analysis to forecast production and estimate reserves.
- Monitor and analyze well performance data, identifying trends and recommending interventions for improved production.
- Evaluate and select appropriate artificial lift systems (e.g., ESP, gas lift, rod pump) based on well conditions and economic viability.
- Conduct economic evaluations of proposed projects, including capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operating expenditure (OPEX) estimations.
- Develop and implement enhanced oil recovery (EOR) strategies to increase ultimate hydrocarbon recovery.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company safety policies.
- Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, and production technologists to develop integrated field development plans.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related field (Chemical, Mechanical Engineering with petroleum focus).
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in petroleum engineering roles.
- Proficiency in reservoir simulation software (e.g., Petrel, CMG, Eclipse) and well performance analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of drilling operations, well completions, and production optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with industry-standard health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation in Alberta, or eligibility to obtain one.
- Experience with unconventional resources (e.g., shale gas, oil sands).
- Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for data analysis and modeling.
- Project management experience within the oil and gas sector.
