Key Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed pharmacists with the dispensing of prescription medications, including counting, pouring, measuring, and labelling.
  • Manage inventory by receiving, stocking, and organizing pharmaceutical supplies, ensuring proper storage conditions.
  • Process patient prescriptions accurately and efficiently, maintaining strict confidentiality and adherence to all regulations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, addressing patient inquiries, explaining medication instructions, and handling cash transactions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment, including sterilizing equipment and disposing of waste appropriately.
  • Accurately input and update patient information and prescription details into the pharmacy management system.
  • Support the pharmacist in compounding medications and preparing dosage forms as needed.
  • Assist with administrative duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and managing records.
  • Monitor medication expiration dates and identify stock for rotation or removal.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws and regulations governing pharmacy practice.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Pharmacist Assistant or in a similar healthcare support role.
  • Strong understanding of pharmacy operations and pharmaceutical terminology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-first approach.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Proficiency in using pharmacy software systems and basic computer applications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift light to moderate packages.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate or Diploma in Pharmacy Technology/Assistant.
  • Prior experience with specific pharmacy management software.
  • Familiarity with inventory management best practices in a pharmacy setting.
  • Ability to speak multiple local languages (e.g., Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa) is an advantage.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
