Key Responsibilities
- Dispense prescribed medications accurately and efficiently, ensuring proper labeling and patient identification.
- Provide comprehensive medication counseling to patients regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosages, and proper storage.
- Conduct drug utilization reviews to ensure appropriate and cost-effective medication therapy.
- Maintain accurate patient profiles and medication records in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking pharmaceutical supplies, and monitor expiration dates.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care outcomes.
- Ensure strict adherence to all pharmaceutical laws, regulations, and professional ethics.
- Participate in continuous professional development and training to stay updated with advancements in pharmacology and healthcare practices.
- Supervise pharmacy support staff and interns, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures.
- Handle patient inquiries and complaints with professionalism and empathy.
Required Skills
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) degree from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration and licensing with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) of Kenya.
- Minimum of 2 years of post-registration experience as a practicing Pharmacist, preferably in a dispensary or retail pharmacy setting.
- Proficiency in pharmaceutical dispensing software and general computer applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centric approach.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics, and drug interactions.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with inventory management systems specific to pharmacies.
- Additional certifications in specialized areas such as clinical pharmacy or public health.
