Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately dispense prescription medications and over-the-counter products in accordance with professional standards, legal requirements, and Goodlife Pharmacy protocols.
  • Provide comprehensive and clear counseling to patients on medication usage, potential side effects, drug interactions, proper storage, and general health and wellness advice.
  • Verify the accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions, ensuring correct dosages, patient information, potential allergies, and appropriate drug selection for optimal patient outcomes.
  • Maintain meticulous and up-to-date records of dispensed medications, patient profiles, and controlled substances in compliance with regulatory bodies.
  • Actively manage pharmacy inventory, including efficient ordering, receiving, secure stocking, and rotating medications to ensure product freshness, prevent shortages, and minimize wastage.
  • Oversee and provide guidance to pharmacy technicians and support staff, ensuring efficient workflow, adherence to operational procedures, and a high level of customer service.
  • Adhere strictly to all national and local pharmacy laws, Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) regulations, and Goodlife Pharmacy's internal policies and procedures.
  • Address patient inquiries and concerns with empathy, professionalism, and clinical expertise, resolving issues promptly or escalating when necessary to ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Actively participate in ongoing professional development and training programs to stay current with pharmaceutical advancements, best practices, and new product knowledge.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or an equivalent qualification from a recognized and accredited institution.
  • Possession of a valid and current practicing license from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) of Kenya.
  • Minimum of 1 year of post-internship experience as a practicing Pharmacist, preferably in a retail or community pharmacy setting.
  • Profound knowledge of pharmaceutical dispensing, drug interactions, pharmacology, and patient safety principles.
  • Exceptional communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse patients and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills in medication preparation, dispensing, and record-keeping.
  • Proficiency in using common pharmacy management software systems and basic computer applications.
  • Strong ethical conduct, unwavering integrity, and a steadfast commitment to patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a valued member of a team-oriented healthcare environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience specifically within a busy retail pharmacy chain.
  • Additional certifications or specialized training in areas such as diabetes management, immunization administration, or chronic disease management.
  • Fluency in local languages prevalent in Murang’a County (e.g., Kikuyu) is considered a significant advantage for enhanced patient communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, manage time efficiently, and prioritize tasks effectively in a part-time capacity.
