Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in the accurate and efficient dispensing of prescription medications, including counting, pouring, mixing, and packaging under direct supervision.
- Verify patient information and prescription details to ensure accuracy and prevent errors.
- Manage and maintain pharmacy inventory, including receiving, stocking, rotating, and organizing medications and supplies.
- Process patient transactions, handle cash, and operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing patient inquiries, explaining medication collection processes, and resolving minor issues with professionalism and empathy.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy workstation and dispensing area.
- Perform data entry for prescriptions and patient profiles into the pharmacy management system.
- Adhere strictly to all company policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines regarding pharmacy operations and patient confidentiality (HIPAA/PHI).
- Assist with preparing and labeling medication containers.
- Communicate effectively with pharmacists, other healthcare professionals, and patients.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 6 months experience in a retail or customer service environment
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic mathematical proficiency for counting and calculations
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and data entry
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or Dispensing Clerk
- Knowledge of basic pharmaceutical terminology
