Key Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures with precision and care on patients of all ages.
  • Accurately identify patients and label specimens according to established protocols.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all infection control and safety guidelines.
  • Provide clear and compassionate communication to patients, explaining procedures and addressing any concerns.
  • Process and prepare collected specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring proper handling and storage.
  • Document all procedures and patient information accurately in electronic and/or paper records.
  • Monitor and maintain phlebotomy equipment and supplies.
  • Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Collaborate effectively with medical staff, laboratory personnel, and other healthcare professionals.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-first approach.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and medical protocols.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle sensitive situations with empathy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a Phlebotomy training program.
  • Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) from ASCP or a similar accredited organization (can be obtained post-hire).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
  • Prior experience in a customer service or patient-facing role.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
