Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Photographer Assistant to join our dynamic team in Vallee Pitot, Port Louis, on a flexible, part-time schedule. As a Photographer Assistant, you will be an integral part of our creative process, providing essential support that ensures every project runs smoothly from conception to completion. Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead photographers with setting up and breaking down photography equipment, including cameras, lenses, tripods, lighting, and backdrops.
- Manage and organize gear before, during, and after shoots, ensuring all equipment is accounted for and in good working order.
- Help with lighting adjustments, holding reflectors, diffusers, and other lighting tools as directed by the photographer.
- Support with styling subjects, props, and scenes to achieve desired visual outcomes.
- Perform basic administrative tasks such as scheduling, client communication, and image culling/selection.
- Assist in post-production workflows, including file management, basic editing, and retouching under supervision.
- Ensure the studio or shooting location is clean, organized, and ready for upcoming projects.
- Anticipate needs on set and proactively offer assistance to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.
- Travel to various on-site locations in and around Port Louis as required for shoots.
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of photography principles and equipment (DSLR/mirrorless cameras, lenses, lighting).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively in a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive attitude and willingness to learn new techniques.
- Physical stamina to carry and set up equipment.
- Proficiency in English and Mauritian Creole.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience (even amateur or volunteer) as a photography assistant or in a similar creative support role.
- Enrollment in or completion of a photography, visual arts, or related program.
- Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom for basic image management and editing.
- Possession of own basic photography gear (not mandatory, but a plus).
