Ogilvy Africa is seeking an exceptional Contract Photographer specializing in Event Coverage to join our vibrant team in Nairobi. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute photographic coverage for a wide range of client events, including corporate functions, product launches, brand activations, conferences, and social gatherings.
- Operate professional camera equipment, lighting, and other necessary gear to achieve optimal image quality in various event environments.
- Work closely with event managers, PR teams, and clients to understand event objectives and visual requirements prior to coverage.
- Capture both planned key moments and candid interactions, ensuring comprehensive visual documentation of the event.
- Perform professional post-production tasks including culling, color correction, retouching, and cropping using industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop).
- Ensure timely delivery of high-resolution, edited images according to agreed-upon deadlines and brand guidelines.
- Manage and organize photographic assets, maintaining an efficient digital workflow and backup system.
- Maintain all photography equipment in excellent working condition and recommend upgrades or replacements as needed.
- Adhere to strict confidentiality and privacy protocols regarding event participants and client information.
- Act as a brand ambassador for Ogilvy Africa and its clients during event interactions.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in operating professional DSLR/Mirrorless cameras and associated lenses/accessories.
- Expertise in event photography techniques, including low-light shooting and flash photography.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop for image editing and post-production.
- Strong understanding of composition, lighting, and color theory.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients and event attendees.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure in fast-paced environments.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- A compelling portfolio showcasing diverse event photography work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Photography, Visual Arts, Media Studies, or a related field.
- Experience working within an agency environment or for multiple corporate clients.
- Knowledge of videography and video editing (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro) is a plus.
- Ability to speak Swahili in addition to English.
- Experience with various event types and cultural nuances in the Kenyan market.
