Job Description
Geejam Hotel is seeking a talented and experienced freelance Photographer to join our creative network, specializing in both events and commercial photography. This is a unique opportunity for a skilled visual storyteller to collaborate with a luxury brand in one of Jamaica’s most picturesque locations. As a freelance photographer, you will be instrumental in capturing the essence of Geejam Hotel, from our stunning architectural details and serene landscapes to the lively atmosphere of our exclusive events and the exquisite presentation of our culinary offerings. Your work will play a crucial role in enhancing our marketing materials, social media presence, website content, and internal communications, helping us to visually communicate the unparalleled Geejam experience to a global audience. Key Responsibilities
- Execute high-quality photography assignments for Geejam Hotel, covering a range of subjects including hotel interiors, exteriors, guest experiences, food and beverage, lifestyle, and promotional imagery.
- Document various on-site events such as weddings, private parties, concerts, and corporate functions, capturing key moments and the overall ambiance.
- Collaborate closely with the marketing and management teams to understand project briefs, creative vision, and brand guidelines.
- Utilize professional-grade photography equipment, ensuring optimal image quality and technical proficiency.
- Perform professional photo editing, retouching, and color correction to deliver polished, consistent, and brand-aligned final images.
- Manage digital assets, including efficient organization, backup, and delivery of high-resolution images within specified timelines.
- Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate various event times and project deadlines, often requiring work during evenings or weekends.
- Proactively suggest creative concepts and visual approaches to enhance Geejam's visual storytelling.
- Ensure all photographic work adheres to legal and ethical standards, including obtaining necessary model releases when applicable.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a professional photographer with a strong portfolio showcasing event and commercial work.
- Expertise in operating professional DSLR/mirrorless cameras, lenses, and lighting equipment.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and other relevant photo editing software.
- Strong understanding of photography principles, including composition, lighting, color theory, and post-production techniques.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to take direction and collaborate effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt photographic style to align with brand aesthetics and project requirements.
- Legal right to work as a freelance contractor in Jamaica.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional training in Photography, Visual Arts, or a related field.
- Experience working with luxury hospitality brands or high-end commercial clients.
- Familiarity with drone photography for capturing aerial views of properties and landscapes.
- Basic video capture and editing skills are a plus, though not essential for this role.
- Residency in or close proximity to Port Antonio, Portland, Jamaica.
