Career.zycto is seeking a talented and versatile Freelance Photographer specializing in both event coverage and commercial photography to join our network of creative professionals. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced visual storyteller to collaborate with a diverse range of clients across Junction, St. Elizabeth, and potentially wider Jamaica. As a freelance photographer, you will be instrumental in capturing high-quality images that tell compelling stories, whether documenting vibrant corporate events, intimate private celebrations, or creating striking commercial visuals for marketing campaigns, product showcases, and branding initiatives.
We are looking for someone with a keen eye for detail, a deep understanding of lighting, composition, and post-production techniques, and a proven ability to deliver exceptional results under varying conditions. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, highly organized, and possess excellent communication skills to liaise directly with clients and understand their specific visual needs. This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to meeting deadlines while maintaining artistic integrity and a high level of professionalism. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, set up, and execute photography assignments for both events (e.g., conferences, weddings, parties) and commercial purposes (e.g., product shots, lifestyle, corporate portraits).
- Consult with clients to understand their vision, objectives, and specific photography requirements for each project.
- Utilize advanced photography equipment and techniques to capture high-resolution, aesthetically pleasing images.
- Manage lighting, composition, and camera settings to achieve optimal results in diverse environments, both indoor and outdoor.
- Perform professional post-production editing, retouching, and color correction using industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop).
- Organize and manage digital assets, ensuring proper backup and delivery of final images to clients within agreed-upon timelines.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and excellent communication throughout all client interactions.
- Stay updated with industry trends, equipment, and photography techniques to continually enhance skills and service offerings.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Events and/or Commercial Photographer (minimum 3 years).
- Strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of event and commercial photography work.
- Proficiency with professional-grade DSLR/Mirrorless cameras, lenses, and lighting equipment.
- Expert-level knowledge of Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop for post-processing.
- Excellent understanding of photography principles, including composition, lighting, and color theory.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to various locations within St. Elizabeth and beyond as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal training or degree in Photography, Visual Arts, or a related field.
- Experience with videography and video editing.
- Proficiency in additional creative software (e.g., Capture One, DaVinci Resolve).
- Existing network or client base in Jamaica.
- Membership in professional photography associations.
