Job Description

Terragri S.A. is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Photography Aide to join our dynamic communications and field operations team in Erati, Nampula Province. This full-time role is crucial for supporting our visual content creation efforts, which document our agricultural projects, community engagement initiatives, and environmental stewardship across the region. As a Photography Aide, you will work closely with our lead photographers and communication specialists, assisting in all aspects of photographic production from conceptualization and setup to on-site execution and initial post-production. You will be instrumental in ensuring our photography projects run smoothly, from managing and preparing equipment for transport to diverse field locations, to meticulously organizing and cataloging a vast library of images collected from our extensive operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead photographers with equipment setup, breakdown, and safe transport to and from various on-site and remote field shoots.
  • Manage and maintain photographic equipment, ensuring all gear is clean, charged, in optimal working condition, and properly organized.
  • Provide active support during photoshoots, including adjusting lighting, holding reflectors, positioning subjects, and managing props.
  • Organize, label, and meticulously catalog digital image files using established company guidelines and digital asset management software.
  • Assist with basic image editing tasks, such as cropping, resizing, color correction, and accurate metadata entry.
  • Research and prepare visual references or mood boards as requested for specific photographic projects and campaigns.
  • Accurately record shooting details, dates, locations, and subject information for documentation and archival purposes.
  • Support the communications team with general administrative tasks related to visual assets and project coordination.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, company policies, and ethical guidelines while working in diverse field environments, often under varying conditions.

Required Skills

  • Proven passion for photography and visual storytelling, demonstrated through personal projects or prior experience.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of camera equipment (DSLR/mirrorless bodies, lenses, flashes) and accessories.
  • Proficiency in photo management software (e.g., Adobe Bridge, Lightroom, Capture One) for organizing and basic editing.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail in equipment handling and file management.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team in challenging and dynamic field conditions.
  • Excellent communication skills in Portuguese (verbal and written) to interact with colleagues and local communities.
  • Physical fitness to carry photographic equipment, navigate outdoor terrain, and work for extended periods in diverse weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or certificate in Photography, Visual Arts, Media Studies, or a closely related field.
  • Previous experience (internship or paid role) as a photography assistant, studio assistant, or in a similar support capacity.
  • Familiarity with basic drone photography operation or video production concepts.
  • Knowledge of local Mozambican cultures, agricultural practices, and environmental conservation principles.
  • Ability to communicate in local Nampula Province dialects.
