Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive physical therapy evaluations, including patient history, systems review, and tests and measures, to diagnose functional limitations and develop prognosis.
- Formulate and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans tailored to patient needs and goals, utilizing a variety of therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, modalities, and functional training.
- Educate patients and their families on their conditions, treatment plans, home exercise programs, and preventative measures to promote self-management and long-term wellness.
- Monitor patient progress, modify treatment plans as necessary, and document all aspects of patient care accurately and in a timely manner, adhering to legal and ethical standards.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
- Supervise physical therapy assistants (PTAs) and therapy aides as per state regulations and facility policies.
- Maintain current knowledge of physical therapy practices, research, and regulations through continuing education and professional development activities.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and departmental efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures related to patient care and documentation.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited program
- Current and unrestricted Physical Therapist license in the State of Indiana
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills
- Proficiency in developing and implementing evidence-based treatment plans
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Board certification in a specialty area (e.g., Orthopedics, Neurology, Geriatrics)
- Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems, particularly Cerner or Epic
- Previous experience in an outpatient or acute care setting
- CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Bilingual proficiency is a plus (e.g., Spanish)
