Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on pipeline systems, associated equipment, and control devices.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot operational issues, including leaks, blockages, pressure irregularities, and structural damage, utilizing specialized diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Execute scheduled and emergency repairs, including pipe fitting, welding, excavation, and component replacement, adhering strictly to industry standards, blueprints, and safety regulations.
  • Conduct hydrostatic testing, pigging operations, and other integrity management activities to ensure pipeline reliability, efficiency, and environmental compliance.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs performed, material usage, and incident reports for regulatory and internal purposes.
  • Operate and maintain heavy equipment, excavation machinery, and specialized tools required for pipeline installation, repair, and inspection tasks.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineers, project managers, and other technicians to plan and execute complex maintenance projects, system upgrades, and new installations.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, environmental (HSE) policies, and local/national regulations, actively participating in safety briefings and risk assessments.
  • Respond promptly to emergency call-outs and provide support during critical operational incidents, often outside of regular working hours and in challenging conditions.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational processes, safety practices, and overall team performance through active participation and feedback.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Pipeline Technician or similar role
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in pipeline inspection, repair, and maintenance techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints
  • Working knowledge of relevant safety standards and regulations (e.g., DVS, DVGW)
  • Experience with various pipe materials and joining methods (welding, fusing, fitting)
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles and equipment
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions and confined spaces
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant vocational training or certification in pipeline technology, welding, or a related field
  • Experience with NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) methods for pipeline integrity assessment
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems or other monitoring technologies for pipeline networks
  • Certification in specific welding processes (e.g., TIG, MIG/MAG) relevant to pipeline materials
  • Experience operating heavy machinery (excavators, loaders)
  • First aid and confined space entry certifications
