Job Description

Consolidated Builders Ltd. is looking for an experienced Plumber On-Call Technician to join our dynamic team in Kitale. This pivotal role involves providing expert plumbing services for our various ongoing construction projects, completed developments, and client properties. You will be the frontline resolver for urgent plumbing demands, requiring a proactive approach, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, lasting solutions.

As an On-Call Technician, you will be responsible for addressing emergency calls, conducting routine maintenance, installing new plumbing systems, and performing repairs across a diverse range of residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This position demands flexibility, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team under pressure. You will be expected to manage your schedule effectively, prioritize urgent tasks, and communicate clearly with clients and supervisors. Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to emergency plumbing calls, diagnosing issues accurately and implementing effective, long-term solutions.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on plumbing systems, fixtures, and appliances in various properties and construction sites.
  • Install, repair, and maintain pipes, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures (e.g., sinks, toilets, water heaters) according to specifications and plumbing codes.
  • Inspect and test plumbing systems for leaks and other issues, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and repair water supply lines, drainage issues, sewage systems, and gas lines where certified.
  • Operate and maintain specialized plumbing tools and equipment, including drain cleaning machines and hydro-jetters.
  • Advise clients on proper plumbing care, maintenance, and system upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate records of services performed, materials used, and time spent on each job.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with health and safety regulations, company policies, and local building codes.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and tradespeople on larger projects, providing expert plumbing insights.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Plumber, with a focus on on-call or emergency services.
  • Demonstrable expertise in installing, repairing, and maintaining residential and commercial plumbing systems.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex plumbing issues efficiently.
  • Excellent knowledge of plumbing codes, regulations, and safety standards in Kenya.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Valid Kenyan driving license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively under minimal supervision.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding tasks, including lifting heavy equipment and working in confined spaces.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical Certificate or Diploma in Plumbing or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Advanced certification in specific plumbing technologies (e.g., gas fitting, water heating systems, drainage solutions).
  • Experience with advanced leak detection techniques and equipment.
  • Familiarity with various piping materials and joining techniques (e.g., copper, PVC, PEX, galvanized).
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
