Job Description
This role offers an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and dedicated Plumber to join our dynamic team in the picturesque La Gaulette, situated within the Black River District. As a Plumber specializing in pipework and maintenance, you will be instrumental in ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of critical water supply, drainage, and sanitation systems across a diverse portfolio of properties. This includes luxurious residential homes, bustling commercial establishments, and potentially vibrant hospitality venues that demand impeccable standards. Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain pipes, fittings, and fixtures involved in water distribution, drainage, and sanitary systems across various property types.
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of plumbing systems to identify and accurately diagnose issues, including leaks, blockages, and malfunctions.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on plumbing infrastructure to prolong lifespan and prevent breakdowns.
- Accurately cut, thread, bend, and connect pipes of various materials (e.g., copper, PVC, PEX, galvanized steel) using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Install and repair water heaters, pumps, tanks, sewerage systems, and other plumbing appliances and components.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to plan and execute plumbing installations and repairs efficiently.
- Ensure all plumbing work strictly complies with local building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to emergency plumbing calls, troubleshooting and resolving issues with minimal disruption.
- Advise clients on optimal plumbing solutions, effective maintenance tips, and sustainable water conservation practices.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each project.
- Collaborate effectively with other tradespeople and construction professionals on larger projects.
- Adhere to all company and national health and safety regulations and protocols on site.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Plumber or in a similar skilled trade role.
- Proficiency in installing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of plumbing systems and fixtures.
- Strong knowledge of Mauritian plumbing codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Ability to proficiently work with a variety of plumbing tools and equipment (e.g., pipe cutters, wrenches, welding equipment).
- Excellent diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and accurately interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and a steadfast commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Possess the necessary physical stamina and dexterity for demanding tasks.
- Valid Mauritian driving license and a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or a recognized certification in Plumbing.
- Extensive experience with residential, commercial, and/or hospitality plumbing systems.
- In-depth knowledge of water treatment systems and advanced water conservation techniques.
- Bilingual proficiency (English and French/Mauritian Creole is highly advantageous).
- Experience working in coastal or island environments, understanding specific challenges like corrosion.
