Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Plumbing Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team at Great Zimbabwe Hotel. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of all plumbing systems and fixtures throughout our extensive property. This critical role ensures the continuous functionality and safety of our water supply, drainage, and waste disposal systems, directly impacting guest satisfaction and operational efficiency. You will diagnose problems, implement effective solutions, and proactively maintain our plumbing infrastructure to prevent issues, adhering strictly to safety regulations and quality standards. This position requires a proactive individual with a keen eye for detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to providing excellent service in a bustling hospitality environment. Your expertise will be vital in preserving the comfort and convenience our guests expect from a leading hotel.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and repair of all plumbing systems, including water supply lines, drainage systems, hot water heaters, and sewage systems.
- Install, repair, and replace plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, showers, and faucets across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex plumbing issues, identifying root causes of leaks, blockages, and malfunctions.
- Ensure all plumbing work complies with local codes, health and safety regulations, and hotel standards.
- Respond promptly to emergency plumbing calls, including burst pipes, leaks, and system failures, minimizing disruption to hotel operations and guest experience.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and time spent.
- Collaborate with other maintenance team members and departments to ensure coordinated and efficient facility management.
- Advise management on necessary upgrades or replacements for aging plumbing infrastructure to improve efficiency and reduce future issues.
- Manage inventory of plumbing supplies and equipment, ensuring availability for routine tasks and emergencies.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a plumbing technician, preferably in a hotel or large commercial setting.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Proficiency in using various plumbing tools and equipment.
- Solid understanding of health and safety regulations related to plumbing.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform demanding tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant plumbing trade certification or diploma from a recognized institution.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
