Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Part-Time Pool Lifeguard to join our aquatic team in Katherine, Northern Territory. This crucial role involves ensuring the safety and well-being of all patrons using our swimming facilities. As a Pool Lifeguard, you will be the first line of defense, responsible for proactive surveillance, immediate response to emergencies, and the consistent enforcement of pool rules and regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Actively supervise aquatic areas to prevent accidents and ensure patron safety.
- Respond immediately and effectively to all aquatic emergencies, including rescues, first aid, and CPR.
- Enforce all pool rules and regulations fairly and consistently to maintain order and safety.
- Provide excellent customer service, including assisting patrons with inquiries and providing information.
- Conduct regular checks of safety equipment and report any malfunctions or deficiencies.
- Assist with basic pool maintenance, including cleaning pool deck, equipment, and change rooms.
- Complete incident reports accurately and promptly as required.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development sessions.
- Educate patrons on water safety practices and promote a safe swimming environment.
- Monitor water quality and report any concerns to management.
Required Skills
- Current Pool Lifeguard Award (Royal Life Saving Society Australia or equivalent).
- Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011 or equivalent).
- Current CPR Certificate (HLTAID009 or equivalent).
- Excellent swimming ability and physical fitness.
- Strong observational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Professional and calm demeanor, especially in emergency situations.
- Commitment to continuous learning and skill development.
- Ability to enforce rules firmly but politely.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Pool Lifeguard in a public aquatic facility.
- Working With Children Check (WWCC) or ability to obtain one.
- Automated External Defibrillation (AED) training.
- Oxygen Resuscitation training.
- Basic knowledge of pool plant operations and water chemistry.
