Job Description
We are urgently seeking a dedicated and physically fit Port Cargo Handler to join our bustling operations in Montego Bay, St. James, for immediate hire. This is a critical full-time role within our logistics team, ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods through the port. Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload cargo from vessels, trucks, and storage areas using appropriate equipment and manual methods.
- Sort, stack, and organize cargo efficiently in designated port and warehouse locations.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and effectively (training may be provided for specific equipment if needed).
- Inspect cargo for damage, report discrepancies, and maintain accurate records.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and port security procedures.
- Assist in the proper strapping, lashing, and securing of cargo for transport.
- Perform general clean-up and maintenance tasks within the work area.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other port personnel.
- Handle various types of cargo, including packaged goods, bulk items, and potentially hazardous materials with proper precautions.
Required Skills
- Proven physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs consistently).
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
