As a PR Coordinator, you will play a crucial supporting role in executing our comprehensive public relations strategies, ensuring consistent and positive media coverage, and fostering strong relationships with various stakeholders. You will be instrumental in safeguarding and enhancing Equity Bank’s image across traditional and digital platforms, collaborating closely with internal departments and external media partners. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and execution of public relations strategies and campaigns.
  • Draft, edit, and distribute compelling press releases, media advisories, articles, and other PR materials.
  • Monitor media coverage across various platforms, compile comprehensive reports, and analyze PR effectiveness.
  • Coordinate media interviews, press conferences, public events, and other PR engagements.
  • Maintain and update accurate media lists and stakeholder databases.
  • Support internal communication initiatives, ensuring consistent messaging across the organization.
  • Liaise with social media and digital marketing teams to ensure consistent brand voice and messaging across all online platforms.
  • Help manage crisis communication efforts under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Conduct research to identify new PR opportunities, industry trends, and competitive insights.
  • Provide administrative support to the Corporate Affairs department, including scheduling, reporting, and documentation.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of proven experience in a Public Relations, Communications, or Media Relations role.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both English and Swahili.
  • Proven ability to draft compelling, accurate, and audience-appropriate press releases and communication materials.
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in media monitoring tools and a solid understanding of PR metrics and analytics.
  • Demonstrated understanding of media relations and effective public engagement strategies.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all communications.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in the financial services sector or a large corporate environment.
  • Familiarity with digital PR tools, content management systems, and social media management platforms.
  • A track record of successful media engagement and relationship building.
  • Certification in Public Relations (e.g., from PRSK) or related professional courses.
