As a Prep Cook with Career.zycto, you will be the backbone of our kitchen operations, ensuring all ingredients are fresh, properly prepared, and readily available for our culinary team. Key Responsibilities

  • Execute daily prep lists efficiently, including washing, peeling, chopping, dicing, and slicing vegetables, fruits, and meats.
  • Prepare various sauces, marinades, and components according to established recipes and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation, ensuring compliance with all food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Assist line cooks and chefs with various tasks during service as needed, supporting the overall kitchen operation.
  • Monitor inventory levels of prepared ingredients and communicate shortages or needs to kitchen management.
  • Properly store and rotate food items to minimize waste and ensure freshness, following FIFO (First-In, First-Out) procedures.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, mixers, slicers, and food processors.

Required Skills

  • Basic knife skills and proficiency with standard kitchen equipment.
  • Understanding of fundamental food safety and sanitation principles (e.g., proper handling, temperatures).
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (6+ months) in a professional kitchen or similar food service role.
  • Culinary arts training or certificate from a recognized institution.
  • Knowledge of various cooking methods and culinary terminology.
