Job Description

Companhia Moçambicana de Tabacos (CMT) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Printing Press Assistant to join our production team in Ribáuè, Nampula Province. As a Printing Press Assistant, you will play a crucial supportive role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our printing presses. You will work alongside experienced operators, learning the intricacies of printing technology, from preparing materials to monitoring print quality and performing routine maintenance. This role requires excellent attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the physical stamina to handle materials and stand for extended periods. You will be instrumental in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the press area, assisting with loading and unloading paper, ink, and other supplies, and conducting quality checks on printed materials to ensure they meet CMT’s rigorous standards. Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior press operators with machine setup, adjustments, and operation according to job specifications.
- Load and unload printing materials, including paper, ink, and other supplies, ensuring proper handling and storage.
- Monitor print quality throughout the production run, identifying and reporting any imperfections or inconsistencies.
- Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of printing press equipment and the surrounding work area.
- Support in mixing and preparing inks, ensuring correct color matching and consistency.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines rigorously to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist with packaging and labeling finished printed products.
- Contribute to a positive team environment by communicating effectively and collaborating with colleagues.
Required Skills
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify visual discrepancies.
- Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25kg.
- Strong work ethic and a proactive attitude towards learning.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and meticulously.
- Commitment to adhering to safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Basic mechanical aptitude or willingness to learn about machinery.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment (even non-printing related) is a plus.
