Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Procurement Manager to join our growing team as a Purchasing Lead in Samburu County, Kenya. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive procurement strategies and policies in alignment with organizational goals.
- Lead all purchasing activities, including sourcing, vendor selection, negotiation, and contract management.
- Manage and mentor a small team of procurement professionals, fostering their growth and development.
- Establish and maintain strong, ethical relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify new suppliers, evaluate products, and assess market trends.
- Negotiate favorable terms, prices, and delivery schedules with suppliers to achieve cost savings and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all purchasing regulations, company policies, and ethical standards.
- Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, addressing any issues to maintain quality and reliability.
- Collaborate with internal departments (operations, finance, projects) to forecast demand and manage inventory levels effectively.
- Oversee the preparation and processing of purchase orders and requisitions.
- Identify and mitigate procurement risks, including supply chain disruptions and price volatility.
- Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, spend analysis, and savings achieved.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in procurement, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Demonstrated expertise in strategic sourcing, negotiation, and vendor management.
- Strong understanding of procurement best practices, ethics, and relevant regulations.
- Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team.
- Fluent in English and Swahili.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Supply Chain Management or an MBA.
- Professional certification such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply).
- Experience working in the NGO sector or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry.
- Knowledge of local supplier markets in Samburu County and wider Kenya.
- Experience with e-procurement platforms.
