Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Procurement Officer with a strong background in Supply Chain Management to join our dedicated team at Jewel Runaway Bay Beach & Golf Resort. This pivotal role is essential to maintaining the high standards of our operations, ensuring that all departments are consistently supplied with the necessary goods and services at the optimal cost, quality, and delivery timeframe.

As our Procurement Officer, you will be responsible for the entire procurement lifecycle, from identifying reliable suppliers and negotiating favorable terms to managing vendor relationships and overseeing inventory levels. You will play a critical role in strategic sourcing, aiming to reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and ensure compliance with all purchasing policies and ethical guidelines. Your expertise will directly impact our operational excellence, guest satisfaction, and financial performance.

This position requires a keen eye for detail, exceptional negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of supply chain best practices within the hospitality sector. You will collaborate closely with various departments, including F&B, Engineering, Housekeeping, and Guest Services, to anticipate needs and proactively secure resources. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including sourcing, vendor selection, negotiation, contract management, and order placement for all goods and services.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, continually evaluating their performance based on quality, cost, and delivery benchmarks.
  • Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and products, ensuring competitive pricing and access to innovative solutions.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with vendors to achieve cost savings and favorable contractual agreements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to understand their procurement needs, anticipate demand, and ensure timely availability of required items.
  • Oversee inventory management, working closely with receiving and storage teams to minimize waste, prevent stockouts, and optimize stock levels.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare purchase orders, track their status, and resolve any discrepancies or issues that may arise with orders or deliveries.
  • Analyze purchasing data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas for strategic cost reduction.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of sustainable procurement practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of all purchases, contracts, and supplier information.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably within the hospitality industry.
  • Proven negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CIPS, CSCP).
  • Experience with an ERP system or hospitality-specific procurement platforms.
  • Knowledge of Jamaican customs and import procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic sourcing and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with sustainable procurement practices.
