Career.zycto is on the lookout for a talented and driven Product Development Engineer to join our innovative team in Beaconsfield, Montreal. In this full-time role, you will be a pivotal force in bringing next-generation products from conceptualization to market realization, influencing key aspects of our product roadmap. We’re seeking an individual with a passion for problem-solving, a keen eye for detail, and a strong understanding of the entire product lifecycle, from initial design through manufacturing, validation, and deployment. As a Product Development Engineer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance, and marketing to define product specifications, design robust solutions, and ensure product viability. Your expertise will be crucial in conducting comprehensive feasibility studies, performing detailed engineering calculations, and utilizing advanced CAD software to create precise designs and prototypes. You will be instrumental in selecting appropriate materials, evaluating manufacturing processes, and ensuring strict compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and testing of new products and product enhancements from concept to production.
  • Conduct thorough research, feasibility studies, and risk assessments for new product ideas.
  • Create detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, and specifications using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Develop and execute test plans, analyze results, and implement design modifications based on data.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize designs for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
  • Source and evaluate materials, components, and suppliers to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure all products comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to production, sales, and customer service teams.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of design processes, test results, and product specifications.
  • Participate in design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in product development or a related engineering role.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, material science, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with prototyping, testing, and validation of new designs.
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations and simulations (e.g., FEA).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Demonstrated project management abilities, capable of handling multiple tasks concurrently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • P.Eng. license or eligibility for registration in Quebec.
  • Experience with design for Six Sigma (DFSS) or Lean product development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance in relevant industries.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Knowledge of advanced manufacturing techniques (e.g., additive manufacturing).
