Econet Wireless Zimbabwe is seeking an innovative and dedicated Product Owner to join our dynamic team, focusing on critical initiatives within the Manicaland Province, specifically based in Chimanimani. In this pivotal role, you will be the linchpin between our strategic vision and its execution, responsible for defining, prioritizing, and delivering high-value products and features tailored to the unique needs of our regional customer base.
You will champion the product from conception to launch and continuous iteration, working closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, marketing, sales, and local operations. This position demands a deep understanding of customer needs, market trends, and technological capabilities, all while navigating the local socio-economic landscape of Manicaland. Your primary goal will be to maximize the value of the products delivered by the development team, ensuring they align with business objectives and deliver exceptional user experiences. Key Responsibilities
- Define and articulate product vision, strategy, and roadmap for regional initiatives, ensuring alignment with overall company goals.
- Translate high-level product strategies into detailed user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria.
- Prioritize the product backlog effectively, balancing business value, technical feasibility, and customer needs.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, design, and QA teams throughout the product development lifecycle to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
- Engage with stakeholders, including regional sales, marketing, and customer service teams, to gather feedback, communicate progress, and manage expectations.
- Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and customer surveys to identify new opportunities and validate product hypotheses specific to the Manicaland region.
- Monitor product performance, analyze key metrics, and iterate on features to continuously improve user satisfaction and business outcomes.
- Act as the primary point of contact for product-related inquiries and provide clear guidance to development teams.
- Facilitate product demonstrations and training sessions for internal teams and external partners.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and company policies in all product developments.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role in a technology-driven environment.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and Scrum framework.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to define product requirements and translate them into actionable user stories.
- Proficiency in product management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, Asana).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO) certification.
- Experience in the telecommunications or mobile money industry.
- Familiarity with the specific market dynamics and customer needs within rural or semi-urban Zimbabwean contexts.
- Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
- Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools.
