Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Production Engineer to join our growing team in Bloomington, Indiana. This critical role is integral to optimizing our manufacturing processes, enhancing product quality, and ensuring the efficient operation of our production lines. As a Production Engineer, you will be at the forefront of identifying opportunities for improvement, developing innovative solutions, and implementing best practices across various stages of production. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Quality Assurance, and Maintenance, to troubleshoot issues, reduce downtime, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes, equipment, and workflows to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for production issues, implement corrective actions, and preventative measures to minimize downtime and scrap.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain teams to ensure seamless product introduction and sustained operational excellence.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process flowcharts.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for production lines, identify trends, and report on performance to management.
  • Specify, evaluate, and procure new production equipment, tooling, and fixtures.
  • Provide technical support and training to production operators and maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental policies.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a production or manufacturing engineering role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, process optimization, and industrial automation.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt).
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Familiarity with robotic systems and automation technologies.
  • Project management experience in a manufacturing setting.
