Key Responsibilities
- Execute timely and safe collection and delivery of shipments across assigned routes in Port Louis and surrounding areas.
- Operate company vehicles in a safe and courteous manner, adhering to all traffic laws and DHL safety protocols.
- Verify shipment details, ensure accurate documentation, and obtain necessary signatures upon delivery/collection.
- Handle cash transactions for Cash on Delivery (COD) shipments accurately and securely.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, reporting any defects or maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and professional appearance of the company vehicle.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing client inquiries and concerns professionally and efficiently.
- Assist with loading and unloading of packages as required.
- Utilize route optimization tools and GPS devices for efficient route planning and execution.
- Adhere strictly to security procedures for handling valuable and sensitive shipments.
- Collaborate effectively with dispatchers and other team members to ensure smooth operations.
- Represent DHL Express Mauritius professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid heavy/light goods vehicle driving license (Mauritian Class 3 or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably in a logistics or delivery role.
- Strong knowledge of Port Louis and surrounding areas, including optimal routes and traffic patterns.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in basic vehicle maintenance and safety checks.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English and French (Creole is an advantage).
- Physical fitness to handle packages and perform loading/unloading tasks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with handheld scanning devices and delivery management software.
- Previous experience working for a major courier or logistics company.
- Knowledge of local customs and import/export procedures related to express shipments.
- Certification in defensive driving or advanced driver training.
