Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely cost estimates for various projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation.
- Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, materials, labor, and subcontractor costs, across all project phases.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to understand project scope, requirements, and deliverables.
- Evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure alignment with project specifications and budget constraints.
- Assess potential risks and opportunities, applying appropriate contingency planning and value engineering principles.
- Maintain comprehensive databases of cost information, market rates, and historical data for future estimation accuracy.
- Present detailed estimates and cost breakdowns to management and stakeholders, providing clear justifications and insights.
- Stay updated with industry trends, material costs, labor rates, and regulatory changes to ensure competitive and compliant estimates.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (4+ years) as a Project Estimator or similar role in the construction or engineering industry.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in industry-standard estimation software (e.g., Bluebeam, Sage Estimating, CostX) and MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Sound understanding of project management principles and financial analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Professional certification (e.g., RICS, CIOB, AACE International).
