Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Project Estimator with a strong focus on cost and material analysis to join our dynamic team in Quatre Bornes. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for preparing comprehensive cost estimates for various projects, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness. You will analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services. This position requires an individual who can meticulously identify and quantify project scope, materials, labor, and equipment needs, while also considering potential risks and opportunities. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting project managers and key stakeholders by providing reliable financial insights that drive successful project execution and profitability. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses excellent communication skills, and is adept at utilizing estimation software and industry best practices to deliver precise and timely estimates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for various projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Review and interpret project blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to fully understand project scope.
  • Conduct site visits and collaborate with project teams to gather necessary information for accurate estimation.
  • Source and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, material costs, and labor rates to ensure competitive and accurate bidding.
  • Identify and assess potential risks and opportunities that may impact project costs and timelines.
  • Present comprehensive estimates to management and project stakeholders, providing clear justifications for cost breakdowns.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers throughout the project lifecycle to monitor and control costs.
  • Assist in developing and refining estimation processes and tools to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 48 months (4 years) of proven experience as a Project Estimator, focusing on cost and material analysis.
  • Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., Sage Estimating, Bluebeam, AutoCAD) and MS Office Suite (Excel expertise is critical).
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and local building codes.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification (e.g., RICS, CIOB, or similar recognized body).
  • Experience with project management methodologies and software.
  • Familiarity with environmental and sustainability considerations in project costing.
