Job Description

D2L is seeking a motivated Project Reporting Trainee to join our vibrant team in Laurelwood, Waterloo. As a Project Reporting Trainee, you will play a crucial role in supporting our project management office by ensuring accurate and timely reporting of project status, progress, and key performance indicators. You will work closely with project managers, team leads, and various stakeholders, gaining invaluable experience in project lifecycle management, data collection, analysis, and communication. This role is designed for someone eager to learn and grow, providing comprehensive training on our internal systems, reporting tools, and project methodologies. You will develop a deep understanding of how data-driven insights contribute to successful project execution and strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist project managers in collecting, consolidating, and verifying project data from various sources.
  • Generate standard project status reports, dashboards, and presentations using established templates and tools.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including schedules, budgets, risks, and issues logs.
  • Support the preparation of ad-hoc reports and analyses requested by project stakeholders or senior management.
  • Learn and apply D2L's project management methodologies and best practices.
  • Participate in team meetings, contributing to discussions and offering insights where appropriate.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement in data collection and reporting workflows.
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency across all reporting outputs.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (for data manipulation and analysis) and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Eagerness to learn new tools, technologies, and methodologies.
  • Basic understanding of project management concepts or an interest in pursuing a career in project management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Jira, Asana, Microsoft Project).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
  • Previous co-op, internship, or volunteer experience in an office environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
