Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Scheduling Coordinator to join our dynamic team in Bugesera. As a Project Scheduling Coordinator, you will be instrumental in ensuring the timely and efficient execution of our diverse construction projects. You will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules, coordinating with various project stakeholders, and identifying potential delays or bottlenecks. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent communication skills and a solid understanding of project management principles, particularly in the construction sector. You will work closely with Project Managers, site teams, procurement, and external partners to maintain project timelines, manage resources effectively, and facilitate smooth project progression from inception to completion. Your contribution will directly impact our ability to deliver projects on time and within budget, upholding Horizon Construction’s reputation for reliability and quality. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules using industry-standard scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
  • Monitor project progress against established baselines, identifying critical path activities and potential deviations.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, engineers, and site supervisors to gather updates and ensure accurate reporting of schedule status.
  • Prepare detailed schedule reports, earned value analyses, and forecasts for management review.
  • Proactively identify and analyze potential schedule conflicts, risks, and resource constraints, proposing mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate regular scheduling meetings with project teams and subcontractors to discuss progress, issues, and upcoming activities.
  • Assist in the development of work breakdown structures (WBS) and activity sequencing.
  • Ensure all schedule changes and updates are properly documented and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of scheduling processes and best practices within the company.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project planning and scheduling, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in project scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
  • Strong understanding of critical path methodology (CPM) and earned value management (EVM).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, in English and Kinyarwanda.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with other project management tools and methodologies.
  • Previous experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects in Rwanda or the East African region.
