Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Property Manager & Estate Supervisor to oversee a diverse portfolio of properties within Lamu County. This crucial on-site role involves comprehensive management of our clients’ assets, ensuring their optimal operational performance, maintenance, and profitability. The successful candidate will be the primary point of contact for property owners and tenants, responsible for daily operations, financial oversight, team leadership, and ensuring all properties adhere to local regulations and our high standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of a diverse property portfolio, including residential, commercial, and agricultural properties.
  • Manage tenant relations, including lease agreements, rent collection, conflict resolution, and ensuring tenant satisfaction.
  • Coordinate and supervise all property maintenance, repairs, and improvements, utilizing local vendors and ensuring quality standards.
  • Develop and manage property budgets, track expenses, and provide regular financial reports to property owners.
  • Conduct regular property inspections to identify maintenance needs, ensure compliance with safety standards, and uphold aesthetic appeal.
  • Lead and mentor a small team of on-site staff, including caretakers, gardeners, and cleaners, ensuring efficient service delivery.
  • Ensure all properties comply with local housing regulations, land use laws, and health and safety standards.
  • Market vacant properties, screen potential tenants, and manage the leasing process from inquiry to move-in.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date property records, including tenant files, maintenance logs, and financial documentation.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance property value and optimize rental income.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in property management and estate supervision (minimum 4 years).
  • Strong understanding of property law, tenancy agreements, and real estate regulations in Kenya.
  • Excellent financial management and budgeting skills.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and property management software.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • A valid Kenyan driving license (motorcycle and/or car) is an advantage due to the nature of property visits.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Real Estate Management, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
  • Certification in Property Management (e.g., REA, ISK).
  • Fluency in Swahili, both written and spoken.
  • Familiarity with the local culture and unique operational challenges/opportunities in Lamu County.
  • Experience with historical or heritage property management.
