Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Public Relations Officer with a strong focus on media handling to join our vibrant team in Altrincham, Manchester. As our PRO, you will be the frontline ambassador for Career.zycto, responsible for cultivating and maintaining positive relationships with media outlets, journalists, and key influencers across various platforms. Your role will be critical in shaping public perception, enhancing brand reputation, and strategically communicating our messages to the wider world. You will lead the development and execution of media strategies, manage press inquiries, craft compelling narratives, and serve as the primary contact for all media-related activities. This position requires an individual with exceptional communication skills, a proven track record in securing positive media coverage, and the ability to navigate complex media landscapes, including crisis communications, with professionalism and poise. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive media relations strategies to support Career.zycto’s objectives and enhance its public image.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong, credible relationships with local, regional, and national journalists, bloggers, and key media influencers.
  • Draft, edit, and distribute compelling press releases, media advisories, backgrounders, speeches, and other PR materials.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all media inquiries, coordinating interviews and providing timely, accurate information.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on media coverage, identifying trends and opportunities for engagement.
  • Develop and execute crisis communication plans, providing strategic counsel and managing rapid responses to protect brand reputation.
  • Support the development and execution of social media PR strategies to amplify messages and engage with online communities.
  • Organize and manage press conferences, media briefings, and other PR events.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms and align PR efforts with overall business goals.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, media landscapes, and competitor activities to identify new PR opportunities and challenges.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in public relations with a strong emphasis on media handling.
  • Demonstrable track record of securing positive media coverage and managing media relations effectively.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and compelling storytelling.
  • Proven experience in crisis communication and issues management.
  • Strong understanding of traditional and digital media landscapes, including social media platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency with PR monitoring tools and media databases.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Existing network of media contacts within the North West region.
  • Experience working within an agency or a similar corporate environment.
  • Additional language skills are a plus, though not essential for this role.
