Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine collection and proper disposal of refuse from designated public bins and various communal areas.
- Conduct thorough street sweeping, effective litter picking, and removal of debris from sidewalks, gutters, and public parks.
- Operate basic manual and power tools and equipment such as brooms, shovels, rakes, litter grabbers, and waste compactors (where applicable) safely and efficiently, ensuring their proper upkeep.
- Report any observed infrastructure damage, instances of illegal dumping, or potential environmental hazards to supervisors promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all established health, safety, and environmental regulations and operational guidelines.
- Maintain the cleanliness and ensure the proper functioning of all assigned tools and equipment before and after use.
- Collaborate effectively and communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to ensure comprehensive sanitation coverage across all designated areas.
- Engage with the public courteously and professionally while performing duties, serving as a positive representative of Career.zycto.
- Assist with special clean-up operations, emergency responses, or community events as directed by management.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 25kg, bending, pushing, and standing/walking for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and a commitment to punctuality.
- Basic understanding of public hygiene principles and environmental safety practices.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Good verbal communication skills and the capacity to work cohesively as part of a team.
- Resilience and adaptability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Attention to detail to ensure thoroughness in cleaning tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in sanitation, waste management, general labor, or a similar field.
- Familiarity with the geographical layout and common areas within State Housing, Calabar.
- Basic knowledge of minor equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- A valid driver's license (desirable, but not mandatory for this specific role).
