Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior Quantity Surveyors with the preparation of tender documents, bills of quantities, and schedules.
- Support the estimation and cost analysis of construction projects under supervision.
- Learn to review and assess contractor valuations and payment applications.
- Participate in site visits to observe project progress and understand cost implications.
- Help maintain project financial records, including variations and claims.
- Contribute to the preparation of cost reports and financial forecasts.
- Assist with contractual correspondence and administration tasks.
- Research and analyze market rates for materials, labour, and plant.
- Attend project meetings and take accurate minutes.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure cost-efficient delivery of projects.
Required Skills
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude
- A foundational understanding of construction processes (beneficial but not essential)
Preferred Qualifications
- Enrolment in or recent completion of a diploma or degree program in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- Basic knowledge of CAD software
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Previous exposure to the construction industry (e.g., through part-time work, internships, or volunteering)
