Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior Quantity Surveyors with the preparation of tender documents, bills of quantities, and schedules.
  • Support the estimation and cost analysis of construction projects under supervision.
  • Learn to review and assess contractor valuations and payment applications.
  • Participate in site visits to observe project progress and understand cost implications.
  • Help maintain project financial records, including variations and claims.
  • Contribute to the preparation of cost reports and financial forecasts.
  • Assist with contractual correspondence and administration tasks.
  • Research and analyze market rates for materials, labour, and plant.
  • Attend project meetings and take accurate minutes.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure cost-efficient delivery of projects.

Required Skills

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude
  • A foundational understanding of construction processes (beneficial but not essential)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrolment in or recent completion of a diploma or degree program in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • Basic knowledge of CAD software
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Previous exposure to the construction industry (e.g., through part-time work, internships, or volunteering)
