Job Description

Are you a meticulous and analytical professional with a keen eye for detail and a passion for construction economics? Seyani Brothers & Co. Ltd. is seeking a talented and experienced Quantity Surveyor Cost Estimator to join our dynamic team in Narok County, Kenya. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the financial viability and cost-efficiency of our diverse construction projects, from inception to completion. You will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, managing budgets, evaluating tenders, and controlling project expenses, all while upholding the highest standards of quality and compliance. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for various construction projects, including material, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Conduct thorough tender analysis, evaluate subcontractor bids, and negotiate favorable terms.
  • Manage and monitor project budgets, identify potential cost overruns, and propose corrective actions.
  • Prepare detailed bills of quantities (BoQ) and specifications for procurement.
  • Administer contracts, including valuations of variations and preparation of final accounts.
  • Provide financial advice and support to project managers and clients.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analysis for proposed projects.
  • Collaborate with project teams, architects, engineers, and suppliers to ensure project goals are met.
  • Maintain accurate cost records and generate comprehensive financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant construction regulations, standards, and company policies.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Cost Estimator in the construction industry
  • Proficiency in construction estimation software (e.g., BuildSoft, CostX, Candy)
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional membership with the Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK) or a similar recognized body
  • Experience with large-scale civil engineering or commercial building projects
  • Familiarity with FIDIC contracts
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field
  • Fluency in Swahili is an added advantage
