Key Responsibilities
- Host engaging and informative radio programmes, ensuring content is relevant and appealing to the target audience.
- Conduct live and pre-recorded interviews with community members, local leaders, experts, and public figures.
- Research, write, and produce compelling scripts, features, and segments for daily broadcasts.
- Report on local news, events, and community activities, providing timely and accurate updates.
- Operate broadcast equipment, including mixing consoles, microphones, and playback systems.
- Interact with listeners on-air, via social media, and through community engagement initiatives.
- Collaborate with producers, technical staff, and other team members to ensure smooth program delivery.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of local issues, trends, and cultural nuances in Saint Thomas Parish.
- Adhere to PBCJ's editorial guidelines, ethical standards, and broadcast regulations.
- Participate in station promotional activities and community outreach events.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a radio presenter, host, or broadcast journalist.
- Exceptional verbal communication and presentation skills with a clear, engaging voice.
- Strong interviewing and active listening abilities.
- Excellent scriptwriting and storytelling capabilities.
- Ability to operate basic broadcast equipment and software.
- Deep understanding of Jamaican culture, current affairs, and local community dynamics.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to live broadcasting demands.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative team player.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of Jamaican Patois is a significant asset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Broadcasting, or a related field.
- Familiarity with digital audio editing software (e.g., Adobe Audition, Audacity).
- Experience with social media management for content promotion and audience interaction.
